- Click on ‘Uber number or email already in use’: After the third step, you will see a heading Creating a Rider account on the screen, below that you will find this option, click on it.
- Fill the required details: Now you can fill all the necessary details.
- Click on Submit: After filling the details, click on submit option.
After that an email will be sent to you once you submit this. Do what Uber team asks you to do and your problem will be solved.
IMPORTANT: You should always Update Uber with the mobile number or email you are using currently. There are some people who are not able to update their Mobile numbers, so in this case you can refer these steps:
- Go to the Website: Go to help.uber.com.
- Click ‘For riders’: Now on the left side of the page you will see four options, click on ‘For riders’.
- Click ‘Account and Payment options’: Some options will appear. Click on ‘Account and Payment options’.
- Click on ‘I can’t update my mobile or email’: Now, some more options will appear. Under the head ‘Changing my account settings’ you will find this option, click on it.
- Fill the details: Enter the necessary details in the boxes provided.
- Click ‘Submit’: At last click on submit.
After that, you will receive an email from Uber within 24 hours regarding this issue. Follow what Uber asks you to do and your issue will be solved.

I only want to drive Uber Black, I was given instructions to open another account if I don’t want to do Uber eats. When I went to set up another account with a different email, it wouldn’t allow me too because of my cell phone number being on the first account. What do I do to fix this, I’m not purchasing another cell phone.. Help

I don’t have a new phone number to install, so you suggestions below are not going to work. Your system is saying that my number is already being used because I already signed up before but something went wrong during the process and I don’t have the Uber app showing on my phone. Now I go to sign up using my only cellphone and the system is saying the number is already registered. Please help me.

Same freaking problem here. Uber how lost my business. I’m not going to try and resolve that issue. Since theres no reset option when signing up.

I use to have my old phone and i’m using my new phone and can’t sign up keep saying that i already sign up and i forgot my passwordod and it say i already register. something wrong with uber system won’t update or sign up. need to fix uber system really bad

I havent gotten a new number or phone, and still get the message saying “This phone number is already in use” even though ive only ever used my account on my current phone. I temporarily shared an account with my brother, so because i was signed into his account mine was logged out. For almost a month ive been trying to get signed back in to my account on my phone and still get told its in use, it has been quite frustrating considering my family together has spent thousands of dollars with this company for rides and food alike.

I cannot use uber with my phone. I had an account and got a new phone and your app will not work. I have tried to both reset my pass word and establish a new account. Your app will not allow me to do either. It simply sends me on a circle entering my phone number and password which does not work and it keep saying you have an account. Can you help?

I’ve been going back and forth with your extremely unhelpful customer service. I got a new number recently and tried to sign up for an uber account but I can’t because the previous owner of this number already registered for one. I contacted customer service and they repeatedly asked me to provide the first 6 digits of a card on file even though I explicitly said I don’t have an account and hence I don’t have a card on file! It’s as if I’m talking to a wall! So frustrating.

Someone used my email address when they signed up for Uber, but apparently Uber didn’t verify that that person actually owned that email address. I can’t sign in and support is being no help because they can’t seem to understand that I’m not the person who created the account that has my email on it. It’s frustrating because there doesn’t seem to be any other way to get help with this issue.

I have a uber and a uber eats account and I just bought a new phone. somehow my accounts for both Uber eats and Uber didn’t transfer over to my new phone. So I tried to reinstall them on my new phone. And I thought it was working until they started sending me my code. Somehow I blocked the number or they blocked the number. I have been trying to figure this out with my phone company and they said you were blocked my number. All I know is I am so sick of this s***. I give up I have tried everything I could think of and can’t start either one of those accounts. So it’s too bad for the drivers who I used to call because I can’t use them anymore.
