Uber Boost is an earnings multiplier program, designed for Uber drivers, on orders beginning and ending within specified locations.
About Uber Boost
Within designated areas, drivers can enjoy incentivized earnings for all Uber and Uber Eats trips during specific times.
It is a voluntary service that Uber drivers can tune in to in order to earn more per trip. The places and times for the Boost program are communicated to the drivers well in advance. You will receive the notification of these specified places and times through the Uber Driver app’s “Promotions” area or via the selected communication channel (say text messages).
Boost promotions guarantee higher daily earnings. For instance, imagine you receive a 2x Boost multiple on a trip. So, if your earlier earning was $10, then you’ll be receiving $20 now.
How can a driver enroll for Boost promotions?
Boost is an automatic campaign that gets planned out. Uber drivers do not have to opt into the promotion program or accept it in the Promotions menu. It automatically gets activated in their application. Drivers can find Boost zones on the Uber Driver app home screen. Or else, they can check for Boost in the Promotions tab. The multipliers are listed as an entire range of multipliers, as high as 2.8x, and not a singular rate.
Uber adds the multiplied earnings to the base fare of your trip/order. The multiplier will not be included in tips or trip supplements.
Is Uber Boost the same as Surge pricing?
No. Surge is a flat-rate amount active for a certain time. It is a temporary engagement for drivers. On the contrary, Boost promotions, typically, last longer and remain active for a set duration. There are official communications for the duration of the boost program.
Moreover, on the Uber application, Surge pricings are shown as specific shaded zones while Boosts can be visualized as outlined shapes on the map.
In addition, if both surge pricing and Boost are active in the region at the same time, the higher multiplier of the two will be applicable to the driver’s earnings. Like Boost, Surges are also activated automatically.
What are the best practices for Uber Boost?
As a best practice for drivers, you are advised not to “chase” the surge or “run after” the boost zones. Typically, drivers tend to rush to zones with Boosts to increase their earnings. Consequently, there occurs a drop in order volume in that particular area. As a result, you might not receive enough volume to make up for the time consumed per ride or delivery.
Therefore, it is advised to accept deliveries and rides as per your normal criterion and not chase the price surges or Boost zones.
What is the process to verify promotion details?
In case of uncertainty about Boost promotions or for queries regarding promotion details, you can follow the below-given procedure:
- Visit the Uber Driver app
- Click on your profile picture in the upper right corner
- From the list, tap “Earnings”
- Click “Promotions” in the menu. You can, now, view the list of Boosts on the application.
