In a bid to make ride-hailing services more affordable, the San Francisco-headquartered company launched the cheaper, smarter, and smaller Go ride. This low-cost ride by Uber is ideal for commuting to work, running simple daily errands, or visiting your loved ones with ease.

The ride option is available in the form of small, fuel-efficient cars that can offer affordable fares for private rides. Think of Tata Indica, Nissan Sunny, Toyota Etios LIVA, or Mahindra Verito VIBE when thinking of the car fleet under this ride-share category.

Nonetheless, Go provides all benefits of a standard Uber ride. This includes adequate driver background checks, 24/7 dedicated support, an in-app emergency button, etc.

How to book Uber Go?

Requesting a Go is similar to requesting any other ride-share alternative. You can visit the official Uber mobile application and follow the steps given below to easily book an Uber Go:

  1. Go to your Uber mobile app
  2. Tap “Where to” and enter your destination address. Enter your pickup location in the tab above it
  3. Select “Uber Go” from the list of ride options
  4. Select “Confirm pickup” after cross-checking your pickup and drop-off locations
  5. The app will confirm your ride and details of the driver and vehicle will reflect on your device. You can now track your ride on the in-app map.

Is it possible to book a Go for a trip to the airport?

Yes, you can book a Go ride for airport trips. However, it is advisable to not book a Go for an airport trip if you have considerably large suitcases and bags in tow that won’t fit a small boot.

This ride-share alternative has a fleet of smaller, hatchback vehicles with limited boot space. With the ride reaching its maximum capacity of 4 in terms of passengers, there is little to no room for baggage storage. Instead, UberX can prove to be a better choice for such situations as its vehicles have sufficient space for passenger luggage.

Is Uber Go different from UberX?

Yes, Uber Go and UberX are two different ride-share products of Uber. The primary difference between the two can be seen in fare costs. Uber Go is, ordinarily, cheaper in comparison to UberX. And, additional services like WiFi may be available with UberX which are lacking with Go.

Also, these ride options differ in terms of room for passenger luggage. The reasoning for the same can be drawn from the fact that vehicles used for Go are typically small hatchback four-wheelers. On the other hand, UberX vehicle fleet includes small sedans such as Hyundai Xcent, Ford Figo Aspire, Honda Accord, and Toyota Prius. Naturally, sedans come with higher boot space than hatchbacks.

Is Go available in my location?

The offering is available in nearly all major cities in which Uber operates presently. To check the availability of Go in your region, you can visit your Uber mobile application and locate the same in the list of ride offerings. Alternatively, you can know about ride availability while booking your ride.
